Help You Can Access Without Speaking To Your Practice
Understanding the complex services and systems that make up the NHS can be difficult. General practice is seen by patients as the front door to the NHS which means that practices take many calls which may be better dealt with elsewhere. Our patient services teams are trained to help you navigate the health and care system and may suggest alternative services when appropriate. Appointments with GPs are always available where they are the most appropriate clinician.
Minor Illness
Community pharmacies can provide consultations and advice on how to treat minor illnesses such as colds and viral infections, skin problems, wounds and bowel problems. They are trained to spot serious problems and will advise you when you need to see your GP.
Minor injuries
If you need treatment for an injury such as a cut, wound, sprain, minor head injury or potential fracture, the minor injuries unit at Rutland Memorial Hospital is open from 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday, and 8.30am – 5pm at weekends. X-ray facilities are available during working hours. Other minor injury units are available at Melton Hospital and Corby Urgent Care Centre.
The community urgent eye service (CUES) is open Monday to Friday between 9am to 5pm & on Weekends and Bank holidays between 9am to 12.30pm. You can call on 0116 326 5588 to speak to an eye health professional who will advise you and decide whether you can be seen by a CUES optometrist closer to home (in Oakham or Melton) or if you need to visit the Eye Casualty Department
