Learning Disability Week is a national annual event, bringing together people and organisations. it aims to raise awareness of the people in the UK with a learning disability, and help to educate others to understand what a learning disability is and isn’t. People with learning disabilities can have substantial physical health needs that can sometimes go unrecognised or unmet.
This health event is aimed at everyone from children through to the elderly and will include lots of health information, as well as talks from health professionals. There will be a range of activities and information available on the day, from the NHS and other local organisations to help people stay healthy and to find out about local services that support health and wellbeing. On the day, people can have an eye screening check, diabetes check, blood pressure, body mass index measured and receive health advice.
