Rutland Health PCN Covid19 Update  March 26th 2020

Everyone must stay at home to help stop the spread of coronavirus.

Following national guidance, the Rutland GP practices have postponed all routine work until further notice to reduce the infection risk for our patients and staff.

For patients with stable long term conditions there is no risk to deferring routine reviews, which is the safest option to reduce coronavirus risk.

For patients who are taking high risk medication that needs blood testing that cannot safely be deferred, the practices will be recalling them for blood tests during the Covid 19 pandemic, and will be using screening, social distancing and personal protective equipment to minimise risk.

Routine work which will not be done during the pandemic includes:

  • Blood tests (except essential tests, for example monitoring of high risk medicines, pre-chemotherapy and clinically indicated tests requested by a doctor or nurse.)
  • routine medication reviews (except where these can be done by telephone or video consultation)
  • routine annual reviews (except where these can be done by telephone or video consultation).
  • travel vaccinations
  • new patient reviews
  • over-75 health checks
  • minor surgery
  • cervical screening
